THRASHER

Arcade Racing Game

Development Time - 7 Weeks
Team Size - 18
Development Year - 2017
Role - Lead Design
Engine - Unreal Engine 4

Game Overview
Thrasher is a game where you race alien drawn hover chariots in a post apocalyptic desert setting. It was developed during my second year of university as a game-lab project at Breda University.

The game is played with a Kite Surfing Simulator arcade machine as it's primary device, though we did port this to keyboard and mouse as well as game-pad.

This controller was used as the premise for the entire project as it was brought in by an external contractor who had developed the machine.

Contributions
On this project most of my responsibilities were centered around my lead position, I was the primary vision holder for the game, and also responsible for balancing the gameplay and designing & implementing the game's camera.

In my role as a lead I managed a group of designers and worked alongside the art and tech leads to ensure we could make the best product possible in the time given. I'm satisfied with the vision I presented and our product turned out great despite facing a lot of issues with our experimental tech.

The majority of my time on this project was spent in a leadership role, leading the design team and providing an overall vision after the concepting phase.

Additionally I worked on the game camera for a large portion of development, as well as balancing much of the game, including the vehicle handling and AI.
